Crates! WHo doesnt love CRATES! I mean... OMG CRATES!?! Every Computer Game is completely littered with these beloved objects. Every man and woman just loves to smash these things up! And who knows what secrets they might hold? Maybe some ammo for your Machine Gun? Or a new armour with +5 to magic resistance... or maybe some tasty cheese?
In all its simplicity this dev is beautiful. The texture is amazing. Personally it means ALOT to me! It gets me started wondering exactly how many crates I have smashed up during all the computer games Ive played
hehe... I havent posted in forever... but Hmmm... what can I say? You did each and every board right? did you use much bump mapping? doesnt look like there is much texture to the wood.. also I think you made the wood a tad bit shiney... all tho I like the front of the top box.. very cool..
bastard! something so simple but yet so noticed... GJ...
(and for all you lamers that want to flame what I just said there... its a complament take it!)
I like this one, very simple, great wood texture... the only thing I don't like is that you used the seme texture for all the boxes, so you can see identical boards in them, that makes it loose the realisim... but other than that, good work!
no offence mate, but I think it's incredibly overrated (your other works are nicer). One aspect about it is splendid: the wood texture. But mind that it looks more like shiny polished wood used for floors and not what they would use for crates. It has a cartoonish look thx to the shiny material and the soft shadow, but you cant label it as realistic like some people around here say. Also cant understand how DA can give it a dailydeviant-title and describe it as minimalistic...not that I dont grant you this "trofee", but you have better stuff than this in my opinion.
I was gonna say the same thing when I saw this... it could be 2 hours of creation time tops... ahhhhh but dont forget he is "popular" so no matter what he posts it will get a million favs, a DD and a jillion comments about how "good" it is... *sigh* - the rest of us will go un-noticed as usual my friend
yup, it's when I see DD's like these that I seriously question the credibility of DA or at least the way in which the DD's are attributed. One would expect that the admins of such a large community would have come up with a more objective way of considering art (like jury panels that have some knowledge about a specific form of art)...Anyway I prefer to have 2 comments with constructive critique or the emotions that a piece evoques, instead of a million "how nice" comments (though I admit it's nice to get some acknowledgement from time to time). In the end it's the constructive comments that will help you forward as an artist, without it one probably ends up trying to repeat his previous "successes" and thus losing its artistic quality (originality, meaningfullness,...), which I feel has been the case here. This is my opinion, but we all have different motivations and expectations to post our works here, so these conflicts on DA are inevitable and from that point of view the rest of us, that go un-noticed (like you put it), shouldnt feel too bad about it.
your non-3d stuff in general is a lot more intrinsic. trouble is that the set-up in this piece (but also in a few of your other 3d works) is too classic (white surroundings and a few identical copies of the initial model). The crate contains little modelling (just a cube with a some added details), the texture is pretty nice, but maybe you just found that online. It's no critique to you as a person, I just think that, seen the detail, the texturing and clean look, you can do a lot better. This work is just not something that one would give a dailydeviant for...I hope you agree, but if you dont that's your every right.
ps; did you use cinema4d? that's my guess, but could be a different soft ofcourse
